I have been trying to understand why something as horrific as the earthquake in Haiti happened and what possible good can come out of it. I can usually find a positive side almost immediate when something bad happens. But
looking at the utter devastation, seeing to the stories of the horror, pain, suffering, grief and loss of life, I kept asking why is this happening? As I was looking for updates on Haiti I did a quick search for inspirational quotes and this is what I found from The Quote Garden:

I know this is a simple, basic, almost obvious some may say.........but for me it made me begin to feel a little better......and sometimes it's the simple, basic and almost obvious opportunities that everyone overlooks. One of the fastest ways we can help is to donate money. There are several wonderful organizations to choose from but I just wanted to list a few that I think are good ones.
The first is Artists for Peace and Justice an organization that is all ready established and assisting in Haiti. The following is from their mission statement. "Over the past year, APJ has directed its efforts to raising enough funds to fully sponsor three schools in Haiti in support of the initiatives of Father Rick Frechette and his team. These schools aren’t just a place to learn but provide for a hot meal, clean water and a chance at the future to children who desperately need it." One of the many members of their advisory board is Jimmy Jean-Louis who is a native of Haiti and from the TV show Heroes.
The second is Hollywood Unites for Haiti RELIEF FUND which is another organization founded by Jimmy Jean-Louis. Along with the immediate needs that are so urgently needed this organization, which again is already established and assisting in Haiti, lists the following on the website, "sports equipment, computers, and art supplies. We do not have a big organization to support, so your donations go straight to the cause. Sports equipment does not need to be new as long as it is in safe workable condition. Many teams throw away items that still have years of use left on them. We are also gathering donations of art supplies, photography equipment, used computers, instruments, and other items that children can use to create artistic projects of their own."
I know money is tight for the majority of us and there are many incredible organizations out there that are helping in Haiti. I just wanted to share two that deeply moved my soul and spread the word as much as I can. Individually we can do our best..........if enough of us do our best........ we will make a greater impact on the world then anyone could imagine.
