Michael Jackson's greatest accomplishment

I am a Michael Jackson fan, always have been, always will be. When people think of Michael Jackson's greatest accomplishment, 99% of the time they try to choose one of his many artistic and humanitarian achievements. However in my opinion, NONE of them were his greatest accomplishment.

His musical genius is legendary, his pioneering in ALL areas of music and performing are forever documented not just in history, but our minds. There are only a few events that a person remembers where they were when….for me at least FIVE of those things are Michael Jackson events. Off The Wall, the moon-walk, Beat It, Thriller, We Are The World, Heal The World…….the list goes on and on and on.

To have given the world these gifts alone, something no other artist has been able to do, is an amazing accomplishment to say the least. Add his humanitarian work, $350,000,000.00 in his lifetime PLUS all of his time gave….it then becomes truly mind-boggling. "Michael Jackson is loved throughout the world". "Michael Jackson had a way about him that made you feel you knew him". "Michael Jackson was the Most Famous Living Man on Earth", said Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief, Craig Glenday.

I have heard and read these things over and over and over, but I had never allowed it to sink in to my brain until yesterday as I was reading about the This Is It documentary’s opening night sales. Truly comprehending one person accomplishing all of these artistic achievements AND humanitarian work was over-whelming. First let me say, the sales were incredible (as I think everyone knew they would be) and I’m sure it will break records which is only fitting of his last curtain call. I also believe it was the right thing to release it for the world to see and I'm sure he is smiling.

People are sharing how he was a caring, humble, giving person who helped more people then could ever be counted. But even in death that still isn't the focus of the media, just as it wasn't their focus during his life. It continues to be on the crap that "over-shadowed" him in life. Even with the release of the film, which unequivocally shows the who he truly was, all that is being talked about are rumors, money and questions.

'They' say "these are the important stories", "these are the things people (we, us, the public) want to know" and my personal favorite...."these are the things people have the right to know". I am really tired of 'They' (particularly the 'U.S. they') not putting the focus on where the WE want it to be, Michael Jackson's talent, accomplishments, humanitarian and philanthropy efforts and all he gave to the world in the 50 short years he was on this earth.

So I am focusing on that now. Michael Jackson was an astonishingly gifted entertainer, who broke down barriers that positively impacted EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US. He was someone who gave because he sincerely cared about his fellow man and wanted to make a difference in the world by creating positive change. That is what we are ALL here to do. He wore his heart on his sleeve and loved everyone. He genuinely believed people are good and focused on the best of humanity even with the crap that "over-shadowed" him in life. It upsets me when I hear people say he was naive, when his view of life and people is how we should ALL view the world.

He was a father, brother, son, friend and fellow human being who loved and cared about the world with all his heart. And although he is no longer here physically, his spirit will continue changing the world by teaching us how to become better people. By sharing his spirit he gave the most precious gift a person can.......his heart and soul. That to me is his greatest accomplishment.

Peace, Light and Take Care,
